'Academic doping' is a term that is used to describe a new rising trend among high school kids, college students and young professionals. Academic doping is when an individual takes a controlled substance (not prescribed to them) to help with a specific exam or work related task. They due this because the medication has the effect of allowing them to concentrate longer, achieve better results and have more energy. In Miami, this has been a particularly alarming problem among college students and high achieving high school students. Taking medication that is not prescribed to you can have many detrimental effects.
